In childhood, any film was released in the theater his father always take him to movies. He always watched The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly and Guide when he was a kid. All these things influence him to join movies and pursue them passionately. His family was not too financially strong to support him. He was too young according to his parents to live on his own. When Ashish was 17 years old he decided to leave Shimla and shifted to Mumbai, Maharashtra, India to achieve their dream. His family did their best to support him.
The started his carrier as an Assistant Director and Chief Assistant Director with Anil Devgan on the film Blackmail starring Ajay Devgn. In 2005, he worked on “Blackmail” a Bollywood action thriller movie. During the making of Blackmail, he got in touch with Rohit Shetty and assisted him with his movies including the hits “Golmaal”, “Sunday”, “Golmaal Returns”, “All the Best: Fun Begins” and “Golmaal 3”.
In 2012 he made his own film “Khiladi 786”. The movie was a super duper hit at the box office. In 2015 Ashish was directing his second movie “Welcome to Karachi”. Ashish R. Mohan is known for Khiladi 786 (2012), and Welcome 2 Karachi (2015).

Ashish R Mohan married Komal Shahani in February 2012. Komal Shahani was a Designer and stylist who has worked on major Bollywood projects in the past.
