Jagat Prakash Nadda (born 2 December 1960) is an Indian politician. He is currently the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and a member of Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh and Parliamentary Board Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party. Earlier, he was a Minister in Himachal Pradesh Government.
He was born on 2 December 1960 in a Brahmin family to Dr. Narain Lall Nadda and Shrimati Krishna Nadda. He was educated at St. Xavier’s School, Patna. Thereafter he did his B.A. from Patna College, Patna University, an LL.B. from Himachal Pradesh University,
Nadda was first elected to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the election of 1993, he was subsequently re-elected in 1998. During his first term, he served as the Leader of his party group, from 1994 to 1998. He was the Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs during his second term. Nadda was elected for another term in the 2007 elections. After Prem Kumar Dhumal formed a government, he inducted Nadda in his cabinet, a cabinet minister responsible for Forest, Environment, Science, and Technology, from 2008 to 2010. From 1993-1998,1998 – 2003 and 2007 – 2012 served for three terms as a Member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. In 1994 – 1998 as a Leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party Legislative group, Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. From 1998 – 2003 as a Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Himachal Pradesh. May 2012 onwards as a Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture. From August 2012 onwards as a Member of the Court of the University of Delhi Member and the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare. From May 2013 onwards as a Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Privileges. He got elected to Rajya Sabha in 2014. Became Union Health Minister from 2014 to 2019.
