    Prem Chopra is an Indian actor. He is worked on Hindi and Punjabi Films. Prem Chopra was born on 23 September 1935 in a Hindu and Punjabi family in Lahore. After the partition of India in 1947, his family have come to Shimla Himachal Pradesh where he was nurtured. His father Ranbirlal Chopra worked at the attorney general’s office. And his mother’s name was Rooprani Chopra. He did his schooling from S.D. Senior Secondary School, Shimla.

    Personal Life and Education:

    His father wanted him to be an IAS officer or a doctor. But he was interested in theater. He graduated from Punjab University in arts. After completing his graduation he went to Mumbai (Bombay).In his starting days, he stayed at guest houses in Colaba, Bombay. And started visiting a film studio to display his portfolio. The response was not good. To survive in Bombay life he took up a job in The Times of India. And side by side he was trying foothold in the film industry. During his work in Times of India, he worked in Punjabi films including Sapani, and Hindi films such as Woh Kaun Thi?. In 1969 prem Chopra marry with Uma Uma Malhotra. Uma Chopra is an Indian costume designer. And his Children are Prerana Chopra, Punita Chopra, and Rakita Chopra.

    He starts his Bollywood carrier in 1960 and work on Bharat Bhushan-starer Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh film, which did not do well. The same year he does the Punjabi film Chaudhary Karnail Singh opposite established star Jabeen Jalil and the film won a National Award and got Prem noticed. He acted in 380 films over a span of over 60 years. He also worked on Golmaal 3, Koi Mil Gaya, Agent Vinod, Delhi 6, Salaam-E-Ishq, and Bunty Aur Babli.

    Awards

    In 1971 he was Nominated for Best Supporting Actor in Himmat film and in 1976 he got an award for Best Supporting Actor for Do Anjaane film. and he was also Nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the Mehbooba film. In 2004 they got an award for Legend of Indian Cinema Award at Atlantic City. And the Giants honored him with the “Lifetime Achievement Award”.He was also honored with an Ashoka Award, Punjabi Kala Sangam Award, Lions Club Award, and Ashirwad Award.
