Yami Gautam, an Indian actress and model, was born on November 28, 1988, in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, India. She hails from a Hindu Brahmin family. Her father, Mukesh Gautam, is a renowned Punjabi film director and the vice president of PTC Network. Her mother is Anjali Gautam. Yami has two siblings: a younger sister, Surili Gautam, who is also an actress, and a younger brother, Ojas Gautam.
Yami completed her schooling at Yadavindra Public School, Chandigarh, before pursuing a law degree with honors at Punjab University, Chandigarh. Despite her academic background, Yami chose to follow her passion for acting. She is also passionate about the environment, and in Himachal Pradesh, she has her own greenhouse and organic garden. In her free time, Yami enjoys reading books, decorating her home, and listening to music.

At the age of 20, Yami Gautam moved to Mumbai to kickstart her career in acting. She began as a model, and her first breakthrough was her TV commercial for Glow & Lovely (formerly Fair & Lovely), which gained her instant recognition. The couple got married in a private ceremony in her hometown of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, attended by just 20 close family members and friends. Yami and Aditya began dating during the promotion of Uri, and their love story grew from there. Yami Gautam and her husband, Aditya Dhar, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Vedavid, on May 10, 2024.
