Early Life and Education
Yami Gautam, an Indian actress and model, was born on November 28, 1988, in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, India. She hails from a Hindu Brahmin family. Her father, Mukesh Gautam, is a renowned Punjabi film director and the Vice President of PTC Network. Her mother is Anjali Gautam. Yami has two siblings: a younger sister, Surili Gautam, who is also an actress, and a younger brother, Ojas Gautam.
Yami completed her schooling at Yadavindra Public School, Chandigarh, before pursuing a law degree with honors at Punjab University, Chandigarh. Despite her academic background, Yami chose to follow her passion for acting. She is also passionate about the environment, and in Himachal Pradesh, she has her own greenhouse and organic garden. In her free time, Yami enjoys reading books, decorating her home, and listening to music.
Career Beginnings
At the age of 20, Yami Gautam moved to Mumbai to kickstart her career in acting. She began as a model, and her first breakthrough was her TV commercial for Glow & Lovely (formerly Fair & Lovely), which gained her instant recognition. Her early success was followed by leading roles in several popular TV shows, including Chand Ke Paar Chalo, Rajkumar Aaryyan, Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam, Meethi Choori No 1, Kitchen Champion Season 1, and a special appearance in CID (Episode 642 – Kabarwali Ladki).
Film Career
Yami soon transitioned to the big screen and made her debut in Bollywood with the hit film Vicky Donor (2012), which was widely appreciated for her performance. Over the years, she starred in a variety of films across different languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil. Some of her notable Hindi films include Total Siyapa (2014), Action Jackson (2014), Badlapur (2015), Sanam Re (2016), Junooniyat (2016), Kaabil (2017), Sarkar 3 (2017), Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), Bala (2019), Ginny Weds Sunny (2020), and Bhoot Police (2021).
In Uri: The Surgical Strike, Yami played a pivotal role as an intelligence officer, a performance that was highly appreciated. The movie went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of 2019 and won multiple awards.

Yami Gautam’s performances have earned her several accolades. In 2012, she won multiple awards for her debut film Vicky Donor, including the Rising Film Star Award, Best Film Debut, Star Debut of the Year, and Most Stylish Unconventional Actress. She was also honored for her role in Bala (2019), where she won the award for Best Comedian.

Personal Life: Marriage to Aditya Dhar
On June 4, 2021, Yami Gautam married Aditya Dhar, the director, lyricist, and screenwriter known for his work on Uri: The Surgical Strike. The couple got married in a private ceremony in her hometown of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, attended by just 20 close family members and friends. Yami and Aditya began dating during the promotion of Uri, and their love story grew from there. Yami Gautam and her husband, Aditya Dhar, welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Vedavid, on May 10, 2024. The couple shared the joyous news with their fans on Instagram, expressing their immense happiness and gratitude.

Yami has continued to work on both film and OTT projects. She has also ventured into producing content with her own production company.
