Priya Rajvansh was born on 30 December 1936 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, and died on 27 March 2000 in Mumbai. Priya Rajvansh was an Indian actress, known for her performances in Hindi films like Unni’s famous film Heer Raanjha, and Hanste Zakhm.
About Priya Rajvansh
Priya’s father Sundar Singh was a conservator in the Forest Department. She lived in Shimla with her family and completed her education at Auckland House and St. Bede’s College, Shimla. Priya used to be the captain of the school during her studies. And she acted in many English plays at the famous Gaiety Theater in Shimla. Her father was on an assignment for the United Nations, so after graduation, she joined the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, UK.
Personal Life and Career
The beginning of his career is quite interesting. At the age of 22, a picture of him clicked by a photographer in London somehow reached the Hindi film industry. Film producer Ranveer Singh came to know about him. Ranveer Singh proposed Priya Rajvansh’s work in a film titled Zindagi Ki Raahen. At that time she could not work in that film. Then in 1962, Ranveer Singh brought her to meet Chetan Anand and he cast her in one of his films, Haqeeqat. And the film became a hit and is often counted among the best Indian war films.
During filming, she fell in love with her co-actor Chetan Anand. Chetan Anand was married and at that time he was separated from his wife. And he also fell in love with his co-actress Priya. Priya’s next film came in 1970 with actor Raj Kumar in Heer Ranjha and this film was also a hit. And the next film Hasee Zakhm Aayee in 1973 was the best film of his career. Her last film Haath Ki Lakerein was released in 1985, after which she said goodbye to her film career.
Priya Rajvansh Death
Priya Rajvansh and Chetan Anand had a personal relationship and lived together. After Chetan Anand’s death in 1997, he was assassinated on 27 March 2000 at Chetan Anand’s Ruia Park bungalow in Juhu, Mumbai, India. The police charged Chetan Anand’s sons Ketan Anand and Vivek Anand along with his employees Mala Chowdhary and Ashok Chinnaswamy with her murder. In July 2002 the four accused were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment but were granted bail in November 2002. In 2011, the Bombay High Court agreed to hear the appeals filed by the accused couple against the trial court order.
