Story of Hateshwari Mata Temple
This temple has a 1.2-meter-high idol of Hateshwari Mata. Only the permanent priests here can go to the sanctum sanctorum and worship the Mother. Outside the temple, on the left side of the entrance, there is a copper urn tied with an iron chain which is called Charu in the local language. An iron chain is tied around the neck of Charu, and the other end of this chain is tied to the feet of the Hateshwari Mata. There is a huge copper vessel near the entry gate of the sanctum sanctorum of Hateshwari Mata.
There is a famous story about this. It is said that when a priest was sleeping in the temple premises, he woke up due to the sound of thunder. It was raining heavily outside. When he came out and looked, two big copper vessels were floating in the river. The priest took out the vessels and offered them to the goddess. It is said that when it rained the next time, one vessel got swept away in the river. After this, the other vessel was tied with a chain. The local people believe that if they look for the lost vessel while sowing the crop, then the crop is good. Many more stories are heard about the huge copper vessel.
