Prem Kumar Dhumal was born on 10 April 1944 in Samirpur village, Hamirpur District. He is an Indian Politician. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Capt. Mahant Ram was his father and Phulmu Devi was his mother.
Prem Kumar Dhumal Early Life
He did his early education at Middle School in Bhagwada. And completed his matric from DAV High School Tauni Devi. After completing, his schooling he went to Doaba College in Jalandhar for his M.A. And after he completes his LLB at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. After completing his LLB he becomes a Lecturer in Private Collage Amritsar. On 23 May 1972 Prem Kumar Dhumal married Sheela Devi. He has two son Arun Thakur and Anurag Thakur.
Political Career
He joins Politics in the 1980s. In 1982, he became the vice president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, and in 1984 he participated in the parliamentary elections he faces disappointment, but in 1989 was win. On 24 March 1998, he became the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh for the first time. He was the Chief Minister from March 1998 to March 2003. He also became a Chief Minister from January 2008 to December 2012 the second time. During his tenure, he developed many infrastructures, mainly roads. People also know him by the name of Sadak walla Chief Minister. In 2017 Prem Kumar Dhumal stood for state assembly elections as a BJP candidate in the Sujanpur constituency and he was also a candidate for the Chief Ministerial. But he lost to Rajinder Rana. And he could not become the 3rd time Chief Minister.
Personal Interest
In their Free time, Prem Kumar Dhumal listens to good music and reads the book. He has also been a caption of the volleyball team for three years and played at up university level. He has also written many articles which have been published in many newspapers. He also helps poor children for good education and helps poor people’s daughters get married. He has an interest in the development of tourism and rural development.
