Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is the 15th and current Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and has been a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) since 2003 from the Nadaun constituency. Sukhu was born on 27 March 1964 in Bhavarna village of Nadaun, Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. He studied law at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. After graduating, he worked as a lawyer for a few years before entering politics. Sukhu is a popular leader in Himachal Pradesh and is seen as an able administrator. It is expected that he will take the state in a positive direction in the years to come.

Sukh joined the Indian National Congress in 1984. He was elected to the Nadaun Municipal Council in 1992 and served as its chairman from 1994 to 1996. He was elected to the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the first time in 2003. Sukhu has held many positions. In the Congress Party, including as the President of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) from 2013 to 2019. He was also the Chief Whip of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) from 2007 to 2012. In the 2022 Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, the Congress won 40 seats, while the BJP won 34. The Congress was able to form the government with the support of two independent MLAs. Sukhu was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on December 11, 2022.

Sukhu has said that he is committed to creating employment in the state.
