Churdhar Temple
Churdhar is found in the Sirmour district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is the highest peak in the Sirmaur district and also the best peak within the outer range of the mountains. The Churdhar Temple has great spiritual significance for the people of Sirmaur, Shimla, and Chopal. Churdhar is a sanctum sanctorum associated with Shri Shirgul Maharaj Ji, which is very much liked by the people of Sirmaur and Chaupal. The temple was designed by Raja Deep Prakash in 1573. Kala Amb is at a distance of 6.4 km between Trilokpur and 20 km from Nahan. Shivalik Fossil Park at Suketi
The Shivalik Fossil Park is situated within the Suketi Markanda natural depression in the Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh amidst picturesque views of the Shivalik hills. Shivalik Fossil Park, Suketi is one of the rare gifts of nature in the Shivalik hills, where the remains of extinct prehistoric animals are found preserved as fossils and probably a manufactured geological heritage. The park has been developed by the Geological Survey of the Asian country in collaboration with the Government of Himachal Pradesh for the conservation of prehistoric animal sites, restoration of their natural setting, and scientific, educational, and recreational functions.
The park, which was inaugurated in 1974, displays life-size models of prehistoric animals that thrived in space one to 2.5 million years ago, with their fossilized remains excavated from Saketi and surrounding areas. A small repository within the park displays many spectacular fossil specimens of this classification, a delight for vertebrate teams. Moreover, the place has been extensively developed through metamorphosis to offer a panorama of the Plio-Pleistocene period (2.5 million years ago), which has provided green cover to the park apart from enhancing its beauty.
