Anand Sharma was born on 5 January 1953 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. He is an Indian Politician and belongs to the Hindu Brahmin family. He is the son of P.A Sharma and Prabha Rani Sharma. Anand Sharma completes his education at R.P.C.S.D.B College. Now the college’s name is R.K.M.V. And he completed his Faculty of Law (LLB) at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. During his college time, he was part of the NSUI foundation and after joining the congress party he was the President of the Indian Youth Congress. He was also the leader of the student and youth movement in India.
Anand Sharma Political Carrier
He started his political career in 1984. From 1984 to 1986 he was a member of the Committee on Petitions in the Rajya Sabha from Himachal. He was a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Lok Pal Bill from 1985 to 1988. Sharma was nominated to the Panel of Vice-Chairmen of the Rajya Sabha. From 1988 to 1990 he was a member of the Committee on Government Assurances in the Press Council of India. In 2004 is was elected to Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh.
And 2004 to 2006 he was a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament. From August 2004 to July 2006 he was a member of the Business Advisory Committee. He was the Minister of External Affairs from October 2004 to January 2006. From January 2006 to May 2009 he was the minister of State in the Minister of External Affairs. And 2009 to 2014 he was the Minister of Commerce and Industry. He was Re-elected to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan in July 2010. In 2011 he was the Minister of Textiles. And one more time he was Re-elected to Rajya Sabha from Himachal Pradesh. From 2014 to 2022 he was the Deputy Leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament.
Personal Life
On 23 February 1987, he married Dr. Zenobia. And he has two sons. They are associated with Sports organizations and social work. Literacy – The first book by Anand Sharma is “Gandhian Way” published in 2007. And 2011 he published “Journey of Nation.” In 2016 he published r “Reminding Jawaharlal Nehru”. And in 2017 he published “India’s Indra”.
