    Vikramaditya Singh—Young Leader of Himachal Pradesh

    Vikramaditya Singh is an Indian politician from the Indian National Congress (INC). He is the son of the late Raja Virbhadra Singh, the six-time Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. After his father’s passing in July 2021, Vikramaditya was crowned the king of the Bushahr princely state in a private coronation ceremony at Padam Palace, Rampur.

    🟢 Personal Life and Marriage

    • 2019: Married Sudarshana Singh Chundawat from Amet, Rajasthan
    • 2022: Marriage troubles surfaced; Sudarshana filed a domestic violence complaint
    • 2023: Divorce petition filed
    • 2024: Court-ordered interim maintenance; later, both were legally separated
    • 2025: Vikramaditya to marry Amreen Kaur, an Assistant Professor from Chandigarh with a PhD in Psychology, on 22 September 2025

    🟢 Political Career

    • 2013: Entered politics as President of Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress (served till 2017)
    • 2017: Contested and won from Shimla Rural constituency (first term as MLA)
    • 2022: Re-elected as MLA from Shimla Rural
    • 2023: Vikramaditya Singh was appointed as a cabinet minister in the Himachal Pradesh government, where he took charge of three key departments – the Public Works Department (PWD), Urban Development, and Youth Services & Sports. This position marked an important step in his political career, giving him the responsibility to work on improving state infrastructure, modernising urban areas, and creating new opportunities for the youth and sports sector.

    2024: Resigned from ministerial post, citing:

    • Lack of respect shown towards his father’s legacy
    • Vikramaditya Singh was deeply hurt when the government declined the proposal to install a statue of his late father, Virbhadra Singh, at Mall Road in Shimla. For him, this was not just about a statue but about honouring the legacy of a six-time Chief Minister who had played a major role in shaping Himachal Pradesh. Vikramaditya openly expressed his disappointment, saying that ignoring such a demand felt like disrespect to his father’s immense contribution to the state. This emotional issue became one of the key reasons behind his decision to step down from his ministerial position.
    • Stated that MLAs’ voices were being suppressed and felt personally insulted.
    • However, later he decided to withdraw his resignation. At present, he continues to serve in the Himachal Pradesh government as the Minister of PWD, Urban Development, and Youth Services & Sports.

    🟢 Recent Activities

    • June 2025: Took part in a statue unveiling ceremony of his father, Virbhadra Singh, in Shimla on his birth anniversary!
    • The programme was termed as a non-political event, but several senior Congress leaders attended.
